Toodleloo Tax Cuts

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Thanks to Carol Loewen for sending me an article written by House Minority Leader John Boehner titled “Back to the Future.” It seems that our old Democrat friends are back at their old games (in the immortal words of Gomer Pyle, “surprise, surprise!”)

In a not least bit surprising move, the Democrats loaded the emergency funding bill for our troops (one being my son) in harm’s way with some unbelievable pork! And please do not be fooled by the RINOs voting against the bill. Senator Norm Coleman (R-Minn) defended the 100 million dollars for national convention security as necessary! HEY SENATOR COLEMAN, HOW ABOUT PUTTING THAT IN ANOTHER BILL, SAY LIKE FY 2008! (Sorry for yelling, but my son and the troops really need funds now)

Let me digress for a minute: I was on Greg Allen’s The Right Balance yesterday and Greg came up with a great idea. Let’s get rid of the nominating conventions, at least on the taxpayers’ dime. In light of the new primary dates, the nomination will be locked up before Easter, so why do the taxpayers have to foot a portion of the bill so these party hacks can have a good ol’ time? I’m not saying they can’t have them anymore, just not on taxpayers’ dollars.

So anyway, the Democrats and many RINOs pump this emergency funding bill for the troops with special interest and local district pork projects. One pathetic answer from a congressman (whose name escapes me) was that Americans should also benefit from this spending bill if the troops are. Now I’m all for helping out Americans, but not on the backs of our troops.

The best way to help Americans is to get the government off its back and the easiest way to do that is through tax cuts. I’m so sick of the class warfare that Democrats are engaged in by pitting the have-nots against the haves. If you think the government is getting more than it’s fair share of your pay, then you need to write your congressman and tell him or her so. Do not allow them to strip away the tax cuts already in place. They think you’re too stupid to realize that if they allow the tax cuts to run out, you won’t realize that they just raised your taxes! Who knows, maybe they’re on to something?

If any of you have found yourself surprised or angered or disgusted or all of the above by the disgusting tax and spend antics of the Democrats, especially at the expense of our fine troops, I’d like you to ask yourself one question, one question to determine your shock. Why? Is this something new they are doing, or are they just using the old playbook? Hmmm……

RINO Hunting

Friday, March 30th, 2007

I’m trying to decide what should be the acceptable grade to be considered a conservative. Seventy-five percent seems a little low because that is a mid-level “C” grade which is just average, but can’t we do better? Having said that and using 75% as a measuring rod, here are the “RINOs” up for reelection in 2008 with their 2006 ratings and lifetime ratings in parenthesis from the American Conservative Union (http://www.acuratings.org/2006all.htm#MN)

Alaska Ted Stevens 64 (64.5)

Colorado Open—no RINO allowed…we are losing a strong conservative in Wayne Allard (retiring)

Maine Susan Collins 48 (53.9)

Minnesota Norm Coleman 68 (75.3)

Mississippi Thad Cochran 67 (80.3) (hopefully a “noogie” from the NFRA will fix
2006)

Nebraska Chuck Hagel 75 (82.5) (I wouldn’t care if he had a lifetime of 90; he’s gotta go for backdooring Bush)

New Mexico Pete Domenici 75 (74.3) (Wow, he had a good year!) :>/ we need new blood in NM

Oregon Gordon Smith 72 (74.5) anti-troop surge

S. Carolina Lindsey Graham 83 (90.6) (his vote with the Gang of 14 deserves total annihilation

Tennessee Lamar Alexander 72 (84.3) we need to get his attention too

Virginia John Warner 64 (80.8), he’s old; a moral relativist; part of Gang of 14 aka 7 Dwarves…wave bye bye John, Allen needs to run again

Dems up for reelection that we need to go after are:

Arkansas Mark Pryor 20 (23.5) he’s the genius that came up with the secret withdrawal from Iraq

Delaware Joe Biden 4 (13.4) he needs to go no matter what

Illinois Dick Durbin 4 (6.7) play his video of comparing troops to the gulags, show him as anti-military and weak on defense

Iowa Tom Harkin 8 (8.6) remind Iowans that he backed Howard Dean in ’04 primaries

Louisiana Mary Landreau 24 (20.6) we need to get behind House Republican Bobby Jindal, solid conservative 92 (96)

Mass. John Kerry 12 (5.6) yea, I know but I can dream anyway…anyway we can kick Massachusetts out of the Union?

Michigan Carl Levin 8 (7.1) we need to go after him as hard as we do Durbin

Montana Max Baucus 8 (14) we have to take this seat back for the loss of Conrad Burns; state is too red for this lib!

New Jersey Frank Lautenberg 0 (5.2) illegitimate but NJ is probably a lost cause like most of the Northeast

Rhode Island Jack Reed 4 (7.2) ditto

South Dakota Tim Johnson 12 (19.6) glad he’s recovering from illness, but we need another Thune, whom Johnson almost lost to.

W. Virginia Jay Rockefeller 10 (9.6) another lib I’d like to see go; he can be had if we find a strong conservative.

No More Cut and Run!

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

“If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War.”

The above quote is from our first president, George Washington. If the “Father of Our Country” were alive today and in command of our forces in Iraq, I wonder what he would say about the Murtha inspired, Pelosi driven cut and run bill passed by the House of Representatives Friday.

How would our great leader of men, who fought tirelessly for freedom and democracy just as our brave men and women and the Iraqi people are doing today, react at this betrayal of Congress? We know that Washington had to spar and cajole the Continental Congress to support its Army. General David Petraeus in Iraq must be feeling somewhat like General Washington some 240 years later.

Our country is engaged in a battle for freedom not only for our country, but also for the free world and what does the House do. Rod Martin put it best on his blog:

“Nancy Pelosi and John ‘Abscam’ Murtha passed their Pre-emptive Surrender Bill 218-212 only moments ago. The bill not only places a timeline on troop withdrawal — the single worst message we could send our enemies — it also denies crucial funding to the troops, including for needed armor (because we know the Dems really ‘care’). And perhaps worst (and most unconstitutionally) of all, it requires the Commander-in-Chief to give Congress 15 days notice before any troop deployment.”

The Democrats actually believe they are in charge of the execution of the war! This has to stop! I cannot stand the thought of the John Murtha’s, Nancy Pelosi’s, and Maxine Waters’ of this country determining how best to protect our freedom.

Dear American, if this does not wake you up, nothing will. Most Americans decry the state of our nation because the politicians do whatever they want. They do so because we let them! It is time to take back our government. It is time to put these “representatives” back in their places. They serve us, not the other way around. Here is your chance to make your voice heard.

I am urging you to dip into your wallets and spend $20 ($39 if you’re really mad!) and contact the Dems and let them know how furious you are with them. TheVanguard.org has set up a blast fax that you can send to the Dem leaders ($19.99) or all the Dems ($39).

TheVanguard.org is also asking that we “call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for Nancy Pelosi’s office. Let her know how much the terrorists appreciate her work on their behalf.”

Please take this action! My son Eddie’s letter “Hope Rides Alone” touched many peoples’ lives (over 567 contacts) and there are many more Americans out there who support the troops and abhor what the Democrats are doing. Will you please join me and TheVanguard.org in pushing back against the nonsense? May God bless you all and our great country!

In Christ
